Corporate growth is achieved by improving the quality of planning and operations, as well as by efficiently linking the inside and outside of the organization.

In a company, various departments such as design, production, procurement, and sales work together in accordance with the business plan. During business operations, it is essential to collaborate with various external organizations, such as suppliers of parts and materials, sales partners, users, and so on. Improving the quality of planning and operations, as well as the level of collaboration with organizations inside and outside of the organization, will contribute to the growth of the company, however, there are various challenges to overcome to realize this goal.

MISSION

Management plans range from short-, medium- to long-term and specifically describe a company's strategy. This plan is determined either top-down or bottom-up. Either method may include discrepancies in strategies and target values because of the complex structure between vertical and horizontal organizations. If this problem is not resolved, the quality of the plan will deteriorate.

The quality of the operation process will deteriorate if it includes inefficient processes. For example, processes in which the same errors are made repeatedly must be improved with innovations to prevent problems from occurring. It is also important to improve the quality of processes by incorporating good processes of other organizations, or best practices, into process improvement.

To achieve collaboration both inside and outside the organization, it is essential to have a holistic optimization perspective. This requires scientific and quantitative management based on information systems. For example, highly accurate demand forecasting is needed by all companies participating in the supply chain. It is also important to design business models that consider the life cycle of products and services.

To address these issues, our laboratory uses methods from business administration, management engineering, and economics. The results of our research are actively disseminated to society.
