The Department of Management Science and Technology, Graduate School of Engineering at Tohoku University  invites applications for the Assistant Professor in Energy Systems Analysis.

Successful candidates must demonstrate outstanding accomplishments and future potential in any area of energy systems design and analysis. In addition, exceptional candidates from any field within the domain of mechanical and energy/system engineering will also be considered. The Department of Management Science and Technology is committed to world-class interdisciplinary and cutting-edge research that spans from fundamental to applied systems and from the technological to the management scale. The new professor is expected to provide inspiration and leadership in research in cooperation with a full professor, contribute proactively to both undergraduate in Mechanical Engineering Department and graduate level teaching, establish an independent research profile while advising doctoral students and mentoring scientific staff, and add to the diversity of the academic community. Generally, at Tohoku University undergraduate level courses are taught in Japanese or English and graduate level courses in English.

Qualifications: Successful candidates should hold a Ph. D or equivalent degree in mechanical engineering, energy engineering, systems engineering or a related field at the beginning of employment. Profound knowledge of the Japanese or English language, written and spoken, is also required. The position is open to any candidate who fulfills the listed academic requirements, regardless of gender or nationality.
